Flip & Flo Challenge 2020

PDXBE-HipHopWeek-WebsiteEventImages-1.jpg

Calling all Portland producers, DJs, MCs, vocalists and musicians! Portland Hip-Hop Week and PDX Black Excellence are inviting you to show your skills and join the collaborative Flip & Flo Challenge. Get creative, put on for the Rose City and have your talents heard!

how does it work?

  1. We at PDX Black Excellence have provided 2 audio samples of the Black Lives Matter protests from right here in Portland.

  2. Any Portland beatmaker that wants to participate has until August 16th to make an original beat using those samples (could be all, or only a part of the samples...get creative!)

  3. PDX Black Excellence will then select 3 beats to post to the public on August 18th — 8/18 Update: The winners are in! DOWNLOAD THE WINNING BEATS AT THE LINK BELOW

  4. Any Portland vocalist, rapper or singer that wants to participate has until August 22nd to record original vocals on those beats (could use one beat, 2 or all 3...flex on it!)

  5. After reviewing all the entries, PDX Black Excellence will make a selection and stream the finalists live during the Flip & Flo event on August 25th for Portland Hip-Hop Week, a celebration of NW hip-hop culture.
